YM were dumped out of the league cup this morning by a strong Dynamos outfit. YM were very much in the game until the last few minutes of this game, when Dynamos scored their 3rd, to leave the game beyond YM.
YM started the 1st half well, but you could always feel that Dynamos might break at any point. When they did, stubborn defending by the home side, didn't let them score the goal they wanted. Dynamos, having won every match this season, seemed rattled towards the end of the half, which came at the wrong time for YM.
5 Minutes into the 2nd half, and Worthing scored their 1st goal, thanks to a defence splitting ball which their striker put away excellently.
10 minutes from the end, and Worthing had their 2nd. A save from Ryan Morris was unfortunate to run into the path of the onrushing Dynamos player, who tapped the ball home. The game was wrapped up just before the end, with a well taken finish, from the right hand side, which Morris couldn't do anything about.
YM did have chances to score throughout the course of the game, the best of them falling to Dan Jones, who slipped at the wrong moment, on the soaked surface. Stuart Barber had a shot cleared off the line towards the end, and Louie Paske all had efforts on goal.
It wasn't to be however, And YM now look forward to next sunday, and a Sussex County Cup 2nd Round tie away to Cuckfield.
Alex Barron: "Obviously we are disappointed to be out of the league cup, but we are more worried about our first season in the league! It would be nice to have a cup run, but there is no pressure on the boys to win, as there isn't in league games. It might work in our favour towards the end of the season, as the teams around us in the table might still be in two cups, so we'll have to see. I think you can't fault the effort of the boys for a lot of the game, but as there are every week, there are still things we can work on, which we hope to rectify on the training ground. Worthing Dynamos had a 100% record in the league, they had scored 25 goals and only conceded 1 in 4 games, so i feel we did well. They are a good outfit, but we got under their skins today and they didn't like it, so there is something there we can work on when we meet in the league. They are at the level we are aiming to be at sometime next season, so we will continue to work towards that target".
