A superb Hat-trick from Charlie Abrehart gave Ym all three points in a close fought Game against newly promoted Worthing United.
Ym were 2-0 up inside 20 1st half minutes thanks to Abrehart, with Jack Petersen and Dan Jones providing vital through balls and crosses respectively. Captain Louie Paske came off shortly after, as well as Centre Midfield partner Jack Gladdish. Ym then lost the game in which they had dominated so much, and Worthing pulled a goal back thanks to a 30 yard strike.
Joe Miller then hit the crossbar but Ym got caught on the break, and a cross from the Worthing left smashed into Tom Goddard's arm, and the referee gave a very harsh penalty. Worthing converted the spot Kick to make it 2-2 at the break.
Paske and Gladdish rejoined the game for the 2nd half, and settled the side. 15 minutes in, and Ym got the 3rd goal they had deserved, Dan Jones working superbly on the right hand side, and delivering a cross for Abrehart to convert his 3rd at the 2nd attempt.
After 5 minutes of panic football by both sides, Ym got the crucial 4th goal when Jack Petersen strode down the right hand side, only to see his shot saved by the goalkeeper. The rebound fell perfectly for Petersen, who smashed the ball home.
With 5 minutes to go, A cross was headed past Michael Chester, into the corner, which made it a tense finish. Ym held on however, and took home all three points.
Alex Barron Comments: "That was a fantastic performance by the lads. Before we took the lead, we were looking a bit rushed with our play, but once we took the lead we looked comfortable. When the two midfielders (Paske and Gladdish) came off with knocks, we really lost the domination we had in the middle of the park, and for the last 20 minutes of the half we were really holding on, and did well to keep the pressure down. To be honest, the goals were quite unlucky, so we can't get too downhearted about that. Once we regained Paske and Gladdish, we took control of the game, and got the two goals we needed. I was a tad disappointed with their 3rd, our defending there was a bit sloppy. Three points is three points however, and we will take that to Felpham next sunday. I was very proud of the lads today. we only had 13 due to injuries and registration issues and they really did Horsham YMCA Proud".
