YM failed at the last hurdle to qualify for the 3rd Round of the FA Youth Cup at Hillingdon on Wednesday Night.
After a shaky start in terrible weather, which saw YM goalie, Ken Westoby, loose his grip on a wickedly crossed ball and the visitors were one down, however, YM fought back to a strong position at the end of the first half.
YM played fast, flowing football and had the home team at a loss on how to deal with their creativity. YM drew level in the 40th minute when Joe Williams converted a penalty kick after one of many YM attacks was ended by a clumbsy tackle in the penalty area.
YM then peppered the Hillingdon end with shots but failed to capitalise on this flurry of activity with another goal, a fact that they'd regret latet in the game.
The second half settled down to a more measured pace, both sides being impacted by the inexplicable loss of the Hillingdon goalie after being strechered off after a goal mouth scramble, luckily he was back on his feet before the end of the game.
Hillingdon pressed hard for much of the second half but again due to the poor weather failed to capitalise.
Finally it was Christian Chimutengwende who's head connected with a Joe William pass that broke the deadlock and put the visitors ahead on the 61st minute.
Hillingdon then piled on the pressure and after many further failed attempts managed to put an equaliser into the net in the 89th minute.
Many other teams would have allowed their heads to drop but YM fought on and in the 92nd minute of regular time Dan Whiteford connected with a crossed ball to clinch what YM thought was the winner.
It was not to be, an extraordinary 8 minutes of extra time were played, in which Hillingdon had a goal disallowed due to pushing in the YM penalty area, only for a carbon copy incident to result in the home team pulling level in the 96th minute.
30 mins Extra time was played, with neither side producing additional goals, this left the lottery of the penalty shoot-off, in which a tired YM were unable to produce the desired goals.
