Horsham YMCA put in a spirited performance to grab all three points coming from behind to win 2-1 against South Park.

YM started brightly and looked the more threatening in the early stages, as the game wore on South Park gradually came back into the game causing allsorts of problems for the YM defence.

Both sides prodded and probed rarely testing both keepers, when called upon Westoby denied South Park on a couple occasions as they tried to cash in on a period of sustained pressure. YM should have taken the lead as Tim Martin caught Park’s defence napping, beating the offside trap and only the keeper to beat, but Park’s keeper was equal to the shot pushing the ball round his right-hand post.

The game looked like both sides would have to be contented with sharing the points until the 87th Minute when YM failed to clear a high ball, South Park Striker was quickest to react with a superb overhead volley giving Westoby no chance.

This was the kick start YM needed and within minutes found themselves level when Chris Southall pounced on a loose ball and smashed home from close range in the 89th Minute. YM now in the ascendancy pushed fwd for the winning goal, Southall came close to grabbing his second as he danced round Park’s defence only to watch his shot narrowly go wide of Park’s upright. Late into injury time and YM’s Shaun Findlay threaded the ball through Park’s defence for Martin to run onto, on this occasion Martin coolly slotted home under the advancing keeper to give YM their first points of the season.
