YM U18s achieved the perfect start to the season with a 2-1 win against South Park in a hard-fought match seeing Chris Plumridge grabbing a well-deserved brace.
In the early stages of the game YM were more dominant with their chances in front of goal with South Park pushing equally as forward but with no real reward for them.
YM were quickly off the mark when Chimutengwende set up Plumridge as early as the sixth minute to give YM a 1-0 lead.
Peacock, Martin & Plumridge all created good openings only to be denied by some good keeping wetting the appetites of the away supporters.
Michael Brownlee then hit a dangerous ball across the box, unfortunately there was no takers to a goal that was handed on a plate ready for an onrushing forward.
Plumridge grabbed his second pouncing on a through ball from Chimutengwende, before the keeper could set himself Plumridge struck a fierce shot which nestled in the back of South Park's goal 2-0 YM.
Cruising at 2-0 YM were then guilty of switching off, a mix up in the defence saw South Park grab a life line as they scrambled the ball home in the thirty fifth minute.
Due to injuries the second half saw Ken Westoby take up goal for YM seeing him put in a good solid performance keeping a clean sheet.
For twenty five minutes of the second half YM found themselves on the back foot and having to defend for long periods of the game showing great character and resolve denying South Park few scoring opportunities.
YM should have wrapped the game up but found South Park's keeper in excellent form as he denied Peacock, Cook and Whiteford late in the game.
With their first win under their belt YM look forward to playing host to East Grinstead F.C. on Wednesday night 27th August 7.45pm kick off Horsham YMCA, Gorings Mead.
