A Scott Tipper hatrick helped lowly Arundel to a league double over Horsham YMCA on Saturday afternoon, as The Mullets' late winner secured all three points in an enthralling encounter at Mill Road.
YM twice came from behind, Tom Lyons first cancelling out a Gary Norgate strike, before sixteen-year-old Zach Haulkham and full-back Dan Sullivan responded to two Scott Tipper headers.
But all of YM's hard work was undone late on, as Tipper completed his hatrick and ensured that Arundel would take all six points from the two side's league meetings this season.
YM boss, Sammy Donnelly, commented, "We were a bit unlucky today. It was a heavy pitch, but all credit to the lads because we came from 3-1 down to make it 3-3, and with ten minutes to go they got the winner. I couldn't tell you, but the fourth goal looked a few yards offside.
"The goals we conceded were very poor goals, but the goals we scored were really exciting. Both teams contributed to a good match, and if you were a neutral you'd have probably enjoyed the game.
"Young Zach scored his first goal for us, which will give him a little boost, and Scally had another good game, so there are a lot of positives we can take out of it. However we were well short again today."
The defeat is YM's third on the bounce, and despite remaining thirteenth in the Division 1 league table, all bar one of the teams below them have games in hand, which could see Donnelly's men leapfrogged in the coming weeks.
