THE LITTLE mid-season blip seems to be over for Chris White’s men as they continued to get back on track with a 2·0 win over the league’s bottom side.

An early Mike Huckett goal and late Tom Lawley finish was enough to give the visitors the points making it four games unbeaten, and despite a brief period in the second half where they took their foot off the gas Chris White’s men were well on top.

The boss said: "They weren’t the best side in truth but they are scraping for their lives at the bottom of the league, it was very windy and the pitch was very bobbly so I’m pleased with the win.

"It’s also a fourth clean sheet in a row so after letting goals in against Ashford, Worthing, and Godalming we’ve , tightened up."

It was a perfect start to the game for the visitors when, after only two minutes Terry Dodd did well to reach Neil Watts’ ball before it went out and he had the vision to pick out Huckett’s surge into the box and the midnelderfiinished first time into the corner.

Having got the start they wanted YM had the hosts camped in their half and defending for their lives for most of the first half. Tom Manton had a shot saved when he should of scored and Dodd’s effort on the rebound was deflected clear while before the same man rattled the crossbar from Manton’s outback.

"It was the start we wanted but the game should have been finished inside 20 minutes," White declared.

With the wind now slightly against them YM allowed Whitstable to get back into the game and visiting stopper Simon Lockwood - in his first a return since breaking his leg in September - pulled off a fine save to keep out the hosts only real chance.

"He was a bit nervous because it was his first game back but with Tony (Di-Bernardo) suspended for three games he took his chance and did everything right," White said.

Substitute Gedling shot wide and Dodd took a chance early and missed the target when he had more time but as Whitstable threw men forward in search of an equaliser YM broke and Tom Lawley rounded the home keeper to make sure of the points.
