HORSHAM YMCA played their third game in five days on Thursday night, and it showed in a drab 0-0 draw against Metropolitan Police at Gorings Mead.

The hosts were stronger for the majority of the game, but were clinging on in the closing stages as the boys in blue applied some late pressure and hit the woodwork three times.

Terry Dodd provided the lirst threat, sprinting half the dength of the pitch to whip in a dangerous cross which was inches away. from finding Johm Westcott, and in the fifth minute Luke Geddling’s accurate free kick was tipped over by Met keeper Mo Maan. But it was a largely disappointing night as both midiields struggled to assert themselves. Just before the break the Met’s Craig Brown smacked a shot into the post before YM went straight up the other end, and Dodd’s header came back off the bar from Matt Geard’s` cross.

In the second period, YM were convinced they had scored when Dodd’s effort was scrambled off the line following superb work by the impressive Tom Manton. But as the home side started to fade, the Met found space in behind - Liam Wright’s run and shot came back off the post before substitute Phil Ruggles also rattled the frame of the goal late on.
