HORSHAM YMCA went on their second goalspree in three games with Tuesday night’s 6-2 thrashing of Leatherhead

Following a 9-O demolition or Eastbourne Town on Boxing Day, YM continued. their fine run with a ‘terrific"performance just up the A24 which leaves them ten points clear of danger.

Chris White’s side have now lost just two of their last 13 games in all competitions, and seem tohave hit upon a winning formula. Missing Shaheen Sadough and Tom Lawley, YM were able to call upon Tom Manton and John Westcott.

We were terrific," White remarked. “The pitch was in fantastic condition and the quality of our performance matched it.

“The quality of the `goals we scored as well was great, there were no scrappy ones."

Even though YM barely allowed the Tanners a touch from the first whistle, it was the hosts who took the lead after 15 minutes. Lanky target man Matt Francis got to a long ball before Tony Di Bernardo and was able to poke home an opener. But YM didn’t panic and conjured up an equaliser five minutes later.

Matt Geard's through balls found Terry Dodd, and the lone striker out paced the defence before firing a good finish across the keeper;)

Luke Gedlinig’s spectacular strike made it two, when a corner was half cleared he flicked the ball up and looped a scissor kick over his shoulder and into the net. And that wasr1’t even the best goal of the game, YM’s third was the pick of the bunch. Geard’s ball to Huckett was expertly flicked into Tom Manton’s path and the finish was unerring.

White commented you will have to go a long way to see a better goal than that.

The attacking intent continued after the break, Dodd skinned his man and pulled a ballback from the by-line for Manton to drill in his second of the night.

It wasn’t going to go all YM’s way though and when Tony Di Bernardo, whose presence in goal has boosted confidence since arriving from Worthing, allowed a low cross to sneak underneath him, Leatherhead had a second.

Normal service was resumed when Dodd’s movement proved too much from a corner had he had a simple volley, before skipper Neil Watts, normally a right back, cropped upon the left hand side of the Tanners’ box to polish off a flowing move`.

White said: "We are looking up the table rather than down it, the team spirit is good and we have built up a resilienciey and we are not panicking when we concede either."
