MIKE Huckett glanced home a last gasp header which secured a highly respectable draw at Merstham on Tuesday night - to the delight of his boss.

Horsham YMCA twice went behind in a whirlwind (almost literally) final 15 minutes but produced genuine battling qualities to earn a point through Gavin Geddes' first goal for the club, and Huckett's header deep into stoppage time.

It was a performance to make their boss proud, and it all came in spite of a Tom Rand howler which gifted Merstham their second.

"We got the result and we deserved one," White en-thused. "We were terrific tonight with some of the football we played.

YM enjoyed total dominance in the opening period, playing with a howling gale at their backs, the visitors swarmed goalwards. Neil Watts, Tony Timms and Shaheen Sadough all had chances in the first ten minutes which owed plenty to the wind. But Merstham went closest to going in front on 38 minutes, as Craig Car-ley's header was scrambled off the line, and Jermaine McGlashan's follow up went wide.

A more confident home side emerged in the second half and their reward came when Mo Mann drove home a shot from 18 yards.

YM had been playing some attractive stuff however, and when Terry Dodd flicked a header to fellow sub Geddes six minutes from time, the veteran striker swivelled and netted.

A well deserved point was the consensus around the ground, but that was forgotten when 30 seconds later Rand sliced a clearance straight at Carley who found the empty net.

The blow was crushing for YM, who were rightly livid with their keeper. Instead of heads dropping though, White's men upped the tempo one last time. And when a cross was whipped in by Mark Pulling after several corners,Huckett got to the near post to score with the last meaningful touch of the game.

Man of the Match:Tom Lawley, pace and control had Merstham worried.

Magic moment:Has to be Huckett's grandstand finish
