CHRIS White has admitted confidence among his players is 'fragile' as they let an early lead slip to crash out rf the FA Trophy at the first stage at the hands of Chipstead.

Mike Huckett put YM ahead after just two minutes and White's men were looking good until Freeman's 29th minute leveller landed a crucial blow. A defensive error allowed Reggie Savage to score in the second-half and Chips ensured their own progression with a penalty.

To add insult to injury YM had Scott Bennett sent off for two bookings.

White said: "We started the game really well, scored after two minutes and for 25 minutes we were great, committed and worked hard.

"But our confidence is fragile at the moment and when they scored you could just see the confidence drain out of the players and in the second-half we didn't really come out."

The visitors made the per-fect start to the match when Shaheen Sadough's superb free kick from the right was flicked into the top corner off Huckett's head. He had an identical chance soon after again from Sadough's ball in but this time it flew just past the post and an asthma attack on ten minutes meant that was the mid-fielder's final contribution.

Still John Westcott sent a header just wide as YM continued to look dangerous but all their hard work was undermined when a Chipstead winger was allowed to skip past three YM men and set up Freeman for a simple finish.

Tom Rand made a good save in the visiting goal at the end of the half but Chips found a way through when a ball was allowed to come in from the right, two defenders missed the ball and Savage tapped in at the back post.

YM players were adamant a Sadough header crossed the goal line before being hacked away, but the referee deemed otherwise and John Westcott somehow missed an open goal from three yards out when set up by Nigel Brake.

Bennett then received his marching orders for a second yellow card before Chips were awarded a bizarre penalty when the ball ricocheted off Rand's knee and hit Tom Graves on the shoulder before Graham made sure from 12 yards.

"It was very soft," White declared. "We are not having a lot of luck at the moment, that's the fourth penalty we've conceded in our last five games and outside of the Folkestone one I don't think any of them should have been given.

"But if we can roll our sleeves up and get a couple of wins under our belt everything changes, that's the nature of football."
