HORSHAM YMCA suffered their first loss of the new season in a ding dong battle against Dulwich, and could have scored enough to make it a seven goal thriller.

Errors at the back and wasteful finishing were blamed for the defeat after Chris White's side took a second minute lead.

White said: "I cannot fault the effort or the quality of our football, we were just poor in both boxes. It's a concern that we are not taking chances, but the players are good enough and someone will take a hammering off us soon."

YM were in front in a flash, lone striker Shaheen Sadough's shot was parried to Mike Huckett to volley home the opener.

Dulwich did not wait long to get back on terms however, a long ball forward from the back went over Martyn Flack's head and with keeper Simon Lockwood caught in no man's land, the lob was calmly converted.

Dulwich's wingers, including former Lewes man Stefan Cox, caused havoc, while Tom Graves, Sadough, Flack and Steve Metcalf were culpable as YM missed chances.

It was end to end in the second half too, Lockwood was called into a fine save. Tom Lawley had the pick of them for YM, volleying high and wide, when Tom Manton was better placed to convert a John Westcott cross.

Dulwich's second knocked the stuffing out of YM, Cox lined up a speculative shot from 30 yards which somehow crept under Lockwood. More chances fell YM's way though, with Sadough placing a side foot volley just wide, and Westcott putting i header straight into the keeper's arms.

As the hosts pushed for a leveller at the death, Dulwich sprung forward to grab the third.
