HORSHAM YMCA watched their end of season ambitions begin to unravel in seven mad minutes at Wick on Tuesday night.
Comfortably one goal ahead with 14 minutes remaining, YM were stunned by two well taken goals from tricky striker Scott Murfin.
Chris White's men then folded and conceded a third in stoppage time.
White was crestfallen after the final whistle.
He said: “We gave the ball away in a bad1 area and we told them time and again to watch out for Murfin, give him half a chance and he will score.
We it to sleep."
We did look pretty solid, but that's no good. The game lasts 94 minutes, it's not over after 75 minutes."
Wick, who went top cour-tesy of this win, started brightly, but YM assumed control as the likes of Paul Elliott, Tom Manton and Tony Timms picked up the bits and pieces well. Just a final ball was lacking, with Tom Lawley's reluctance to go outside his man a source of frustration for the visiting bench.
For all YM's smart play, keeper Tom Rand almost handed Wick a goal on a plate. He was forced into a terrific double save after presenting John Lawson with possession, and from the resulting corner Murfin found space for a shot which hit the post after missing a sea of legs.
Two good sides were effectively cancelling each other out by the half time whistle, Martyn Flack was having a colossal game, heading everything which came his way.
White's words must have hit home, as early in the second half Lawley danced round Gareth Bricknell, cut inside Dave Sharman before seeing his shot flick off another defender into the net.
With 20 minutes to go Manton had a glorious chance to seal the points, but he hesitated over the shot and the opportunity was gone.
The departure of Tony Timms with cramp set the tone for the remainder, and Wick capitalised. Murfin latched on to a through ball and lobbed the onrushing Rand to level.
Minutes later, the YM defence lost Murfin again, and the diminutive front man dispatched a cool finish beyond Rand.
YM were desperate now, but forced little pressure, and Wick wrapped it up when Miles Scerri teed up Julian Boniface in stoppage time.
