HORSHAM YMCA boss Chris White praised his side's character as they returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win against Redhill.
Three games without a win has seen YM fall off the pace of leaders Eastbourne United but first half goals from Shaheen Sadough and Matt Geard earned them three valuable points at Gorings Mead.
"It's results that count for us now," White said. "I said to the lads before the game a draw was no good for us.
"They are showing good character, it was a decent win on Saturday and a good win here. In truth we're not playing as fluently as we were earlier in the season but if we get scrappy 2-1 wins in all our last ten games I'll be happy."
The home side got off to a good start after nine minutes with midfielder Scott Marshall the architect. He broke from midfield and showed a turn of pace to beat two men and get to the byline, and his inch perfect cross found Sadough, who had peeled off his marker to head home.
A mix up at the back allowed Redhill to equalise, Tom Graves failed to deal with a long ball and as Tom Rand came out to give assistance he was stuck in no man's land when Radford finished well from the edge of the area.
Tom Manton went off injured after 25 minutes and White brought on James Rhodes, playing his first game for the club after breaking his arm in pre season, and the midfielder made an instant impact. After interchanging passes with Sadough he delivered a precise low cross to the edge of the box for Geard to drill into the corner.
In an end to end half Steve Metcalf was denied by a fantastic save from Redhill stopper Chris May while in the opposite goal Rand did well to save at the near post.
Both keepers continued to impress in the second half, Rand keeping out a point blank effort following a corner and May denying substitute Paul Elliott, and the striker put an effort just wide of the post from Geard's clever chipped pass.
White praised the contribution of Rhodes after an impressive performance following his long lay off.
He said: "It's like having a new signing, I thought he was excellent. We have missed him this season, he's quality and I though he was the best player on the park."
