CHRIS White conceded the Division 1 title race was effectively over after his Horsham YMCA side lost further points on leaders Eastbourne with a 2-2 draw against Arundel.

Only Ryan Bradley's late goal saved a point for the hosts after Scott Marshall had equalised in the first half, and YM finished the game with ten men when Matt Geard was dismissed for two yellow cards late on.

"We have to look now and think our ultimate aim is promotion," White said.

"Obviously if Eastbourne slip up we will have to take advantage, they have some tough games and it won't be over until it's mathematical¬ly impossible, but if we can't win it we have to make sure we finish sec-ond."

After an even start Howard Neighbour put Arundel with a fantastic goal on ten minutes, smash¬ing a volley early from the edge of the box which hit the back of the net before keeper Tom Rand could react.

YM came back strongly, Paul Elliott and Steve Metcalf hitting the wood¬work and new signing Tom Graves twice having efforts cleared off the line. The home side got the leveller on 27 minutes, following a slick passing move Geard found the run of Marshall who in turn found the far corner.

Ten minutes into the sec¬ond half Elliott thought he had put YM in front, Geard again found him wide left in the box and with the keeper in no man's land the striker lifted it over him but the ball landed just on top of the goal.

White was unhappy with what he called 'inconsistent refereeing' inparticular the lead up to Arundel's second goal. He felt Rand's kick was brought down with a hand on the halfway line and the midfielder then played Dean Chamberlain in, his lob was over Rand but Graves was back to clear onto the post, although the linesman gave the goal.

"He clearly controlled it with his hand and the lines¬man who gave the goal was¬n't up with play, it's very frustrating," White fumed.

YM threw caution to the wind and were rewarded five minutes from time when substitute Bradley reacted quickest to score from a corner. White felt Arundel's Justin Harris should have walked for what he deemed a headbutt on Elliott, the referee opting for a yellow card, and Geard was dismissed for a tackle which earned him his second booking.

YMCA: (4-3-3): Rand; Williams (Bradley 75), Metcalf, Graves, Cooney; Watts (Sadough 60), Marshall, Geard; Manton, Lawley, Elliott.
