YM's Shaheen Sadough tussles for possession, picture by Derek Martin, courtesy of the West Sussex County Times HORSHAM YMCA missed the chance to go joint top of Division 1 with a disap¬pointing 3-2 defeat against Pagham, jam packed with controversy.

Pagham took an early lead before Scott Marshall equalised, and the visitors again went ahead following what YM boss Chris White called an 'embarrassing' offside decision.

Pagham were reduced to ten men but extended their lead, and YM then had Marshall dismissed before missing numerous chances to get back into the game.

Ryan Bradley did pull one back late on and then YM had a strong shout for a penalty waved away by referee Mr Machink, and angry scenes followed the full time whistle.

"In 30 years of football that's the worst refereeing display I have ever seen, it was shocking from start to finish," said White.

"But we have not done ourselves any favours either - we can't defend, we have let in silly goals and in the second half we couldn't fin¬ish the four or five good chances we created."

YM's back line looked brittle from the first whistle and the visitors exploited it after just five minutes when a cross from the left was clinically dispatched by Jamie Angel.

Tom Rand denied Rob Wimble from nine yards before Marshall tapped in after an excellent run by Tom Manton down the left.

Just as YM were getting a foothold in the game a simple ball over the top released Wimble, who appeared to be yards off-side, and forced a corner which an unmarked Bradshaw scored from.

"Everyone inline was embarrassed, he was five yards offside, but having said that we haven't defend¬ed the corner," said White.

Bradshaw was sent off in the second half but Pagham caught the hosts on the break, Michael Frangou coolly converting, and only with 15 minutes to play did YM really start to test keep¬er Rob McLeiland.

Neil Watts, Ryan Bradley and Matt Geard missed good chances before Marshall took an early bath for his second booking, and there was still time for Bradley to score and Shaheen Sadough to have a seemingly stone wall penal¬ty turned down.
