HORSHAM YMCA boss Chris White paid tribute to two of his star performers after a convincing opening day win against Hailsham today.
Steve Metcalf bagged all four goals in a 4-1 win, while Tom Lawley had a hand in each of the strikes to complete a satisfying result on YM's return to the Sussex County League.
Metcalf put his side ahead with a thumping header from Lawley's corner, and after Hailsham levelled minutes later, he applied the final touch to Lawley's wicked free kick.
After a half time move into midfield, the all action Metcalf grabbed another two goals after being set up by Lawley.
White commented: "I thought we played some good football.
"Steve gtes himself in the positions and we wanted to see him score more from set pieces like that.
"While Tom has all the ability and plenty of pace, I'm glad I was able to take him on this week."
