The hosts were the better side but they are having no luck at the moment and went behind in the 16th minute when Joe Keehan scored an own goal and just before half time Kofi Courty doubled their lead

Midway through the second half Fred Flemming saw red and YM pulled one back through Steve Davies netting the rebound after Dean Garden's penalty was saved.

Danny Oakins went for an early shower as well but the Gorings Mead side could not make their numerical advantage count despite throwing the kitchen sink at Chipstead.

"We just couldn't break them down," bemoaned manager John Suter. "They just sat back and we couldn't get through.

"It sounds silly but it didn't do us any favours when they were sent off, they just sat back."

YM dominated the first quarter of an hour, Alex Keaney went on a great run but smashed a terrific shot inches over.

Davies wasted a good chance when he shot wide and could have done better with a half chance but Chipstead struck against the run of play.

A free-kick was curled in by Chris Head and Flemming nodded the ball across goal, it hit Keehan on the knee and unfortunately went in.

The visitors were sparked into life after that but as the half wore on YM reasserted themselves, the best move of the game ended with Davies finding Mithun Nayee but he shot over.

On the stroke of half time the hosts lost possession and Chipstead broke quickly with Courty coolly slotting home a one-on-one.

An end-to-end second half followed and YM were given hope when Flemming kicked Glen Woodburn from behind after they were clearing the area following a corner in the 70th minute.

It was spotted by the assistant referee and he received a red card. Garden saw his penalty parried but Davies was first to it and smashed the rebound into the roof of the net.

"It was completely out of character with the game when the first bloke got sent off," remarked Suter.

However, it began to boil over as YM were frustrated by Chipstead's tactics with Woodburn, Keehan, Dan Taylor and Duffield all found their way into the referee's notebook and Oakins was sent off for throwing a punch at Richard Greenfield with 15 minutes to go.

"There was a lot of time wasting which is frustrating," commented Suter. "I could have gone faster with a zimmer frame than the goalkeeper."

Keehan and White went close but YM were unable to breakthrough as the Chipstead bus was successfully parked in front of their goal.
