HORSHAM YMCA received a 'rude awakening' before the start of the Ryman Division 1 South campaign gets under way on Saturday.
A depleted YM were hammered 4-1 at home by Premier Division outfit Folkestone Invicta.
Manager John Suter said: "We were 3-0 down after 13 minutes, 4-0 after 20 minutes.
"We didn't start the game like we did the Horsham game. I think the players believed their own hype after the Horsham game.
"It was a rude awakening," stated the YM boss.
"It was 0-0 in the second half and we took a little comfort from that but they had taken their foot off the pedal.
"In fairness we were missing Woody (Glen Woodburn] and Ellis (Hooper] at the back," remarked Suter.
Dean Carden netted YM's consolation from the spot before half time.
