Suter goes Triple D
HORSHAM YMCA manner John Suter laughed off suggestions that his side are playoff candidates.
With the Gorings Mead outfit on fine form of late, they have scooped two awards for December and are in eighth in Division 1 South.
When asked about who he believes will win the league, Suter remarked: "I don't think it will be Horsham YMCA.
"The playoffs would not be good for us, what if we have a couple of good Saturdays? We are not ready for the Ryman Premier League.
"We might be ready in the future but that is a different question."
The race at the top is very tight with Dulwich Hamlet and Fleet Town level on points, Dartford three points behind with a game in hand and Dover Athletic six points from the top with two games in hand.
"There are some good teams in this league," commented Suter.
"I think it will be one of the three Ds - Dulwich, Dover or Dartford.
"Hastings are talking about winning the league now, they annihilated us 2-2. They have been on a good run and hammered us but we scored two goals at the end.
"Leatherhead were very good and were doing well until their FA Cup exploits came to an end against Torquay.
"Dartford have got this new ground, Dover have a new manager in, it remains to be seen what will happen there. They have probably got more financial clout than Dulwich but I'm not sure," he added.
YM are not in the same financial league as a lot of teams in the division, especially near the top, so their aim is different.
Suter said: "Our aim has got to be to get enough points so that we feel safe.
"If we finish in the top half or half way that will be a very good season for us."
YM currently have 31 points and are in eighth, with Corinthian Casuals looking doomed on 12 points at the foot of the table, having recorded two league wins this season.
Second bottom Walton Casuals have 18 points meaning YM have a 13 point gap between themselves and the drop zone.
YM missed out on the chance to gain revenge on Sittingbourne on Saturday as the game was postponed an hour before kick off due to a water logged pitch.
In the previous encounter, when YM were not playing so well at the beginning of the season, Sittingbourne recorded a 4-3 triumph at Gorings Mead.
