Suter looks to some Royal inspiration after Trophy exit

JOHN Suter has called on his Horsham YMCA side to 'do a Reading' as they look to rediscover some form after two heavy .defeats in the space of a week.

YM's Ryman League trip to Walton Casuals resulted in a 4-2 loss, followed by a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Dartford in the FA Trophy on Sunday, and Suter wants to draw inspiration from another promoted side punching above their weight.

"On the way back from Dartford I was listening to Arsenal beat Reading 4-0 and there was a very good point made," he said.

"They cannot expect to beat sides like Arsenal, who will be competing for the league.

"Reading (nicknamed the Royals) have to look to beat the likes of Charlton and Watford - we have to be doing the same with the teams around us. That's why I was so upset after the loss to Walton."

YM's finances do not allow Suter to go out and splash the cash on a quick fix solution, but is confident his players have enough to cause shocks, such as beating Kingstonian away in August.

"It is down to the players," he remarked.

"We have to keep on with what we have at the club, I cannot go out and splash out on a couple of new players just like that.

"If we played out of our skins all the time, like we did at Kingstonian to get a 1-0 win, we would be able to beat the teams at the top of the league.

"If normal service is resumed, teams like Dartford will beat us, it's teams in the bottom half of the league we have to look at getting points off of.

"The season is no more difficult than we thought it would be - the last time we went and played Dartford they beat us 5-0, so not a lot has changed."
