AN INJURY-TIME goal from Kris Trevor handed YM a vital 1-0 win at Hailsham Town.

The visitors dominated pos¬session - yet again - but lacked the killer instinct until Trevor came off the bench and hit a dramatic late winner.

Manager John Suter was delighted with the late goal, he commented: "A lot of the game happened in between the boxes.

"We had a lot of possession but the final ball lacked quality. The more the game went on, the more cutting edge we had. He [Trevor] put a bit of spark on for us and I enjoyed the goal," he added.

Shaheen Sadough had the first opening for YM when he dwelt on the ball for too long and his shot was blocked.

Strike partner Matt Russell was then guilty of a shocking miss when he rose highest to meet a cross from the left but inexplicably headed over the bar from close range.

Hailsham only had one shot on target all game and that was comfortably held by Ian Chatfield as the YM stopper was largely redundant.

The second half continued in a similar vein as the first with YM controlling the ball while managing to produce more of a cutting edge.

A Dean Garden corner was headed back by Ellis Hooper to Dave Gellatly and his shot was blocked on to the post by a defender with the visitors appealing for handball.

Another chance was scram¬bled off the line as YM began to turn the screw.

The introduction of Trevor saw him have a good opportu¬nity straight away, but the for¬ward fired the chance wide.

Three minutes into injury-time and the Gorings Mead side eventually took the lead. Trevor latched on to a pass from Matt Duffield, rounded keeper Russell Tanner and tucked the ball home.

"If we hadn't have won, it wouldn't have looked healthy for us but it wouldn't have been over. I still think that there are points to be dropped. No games are easy for us or Ringmer at this stage of the season. They are either against relegation troubled teams bust¬ing a gut or mid table teams playing with freedom," said Suter.
