YM SHOT down the Swans in the second round of the RUR Cup at Gorings Mead on Tuesday night.

Last year's County League champions showed the difference in class between themselves and the reigning Division 3 champions as they won 5-0.

Storrington kept going when lesser sides would have caved in but they simply could not live with YM's passing and movement, particularly in the first half when the hosts could have had a hatful.

"I was quite impressed by our performance in the first 35 minutes, we did very well," said YM boss John Suter. "You cannot maintain that for a full game. I think the players thought it was far too easy and all wanted to score but you have got to be pleased with 5-0," he added.

Storrington manager Russell Penticost was full of praise for the opposition. "They are a very, very good side, we did alright but we weren't going to be able to live with that," he said.

YM were top drawer in the first half - not only when they had the ball but their work off it as well - and could have tested Penticost's calculator to the limit, especially when they struck after just three minutes.

A ball into the box was delightfully touched off by Nick Flint to the onrushing Brabon who poked it into the bottom corner.

Before the lead was doubled in the 21st minute YM could have had four more goals. Paul Smith made a great save to tip Flint's stinging drive wide and a minute later the tricky forward dragged his shot inches past the post.

It was constant pressure as Ali Russell hit the outside of the post with a free header from Flint's deep cross.

Joel O'Hara should have had a blatant penalty when he turned inside Adam Palmer and had his legs taken away from him but referee Steven Baker waved play on.

Brabon then grabbed his second after a flowing move. James Grant played the ball into Russell who delightfully laid it off into the path of the midfield man who passed the ball into the bottom corner.

Storrington's attacks came from the right side through Steve Blake, he drove a long range effort straight at lan Chatfield and was always looking for Dan Griffin and Neil Richardson who were an aerial threat, but YM coped well.

The hosts were awarded a penalty at the second time of asking when Dan White brought down O'Hara. The ever-improving Garden confidently stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way.

The visitors were undone by another long ball that was headed down by Russell but Grant could not hit the target.

Moments later a lovely chip through by the magnificent Russell Eldridge was latched on to by Russell, he attempted to lift the ball over Smith but the keeper got both hands to it.

Griffin's frustrations were growing and when he was awarded a free-kick took a leaf out of Wayne Rooney's book, sarcastically applauding the referee, but just received a talking to.

Just before the interval Storrington had a golden opportunity to score when Griffin headed on to the underside of the bar via Chatfield's finger tips.

A minute into the second half, O'Hara raced clear and showed his team-mates how it was done with an excellent chip over the keeper with the outside of his foot.

The chances dried up after that as Storrington tired and sat back more but the Gorings Mead club did net a fifth through O'Hara's clinical finish.
