YM WERE unceremoniously dumped out of the FA CUP when they lost 5-0 to Dartford on Sunday.
The Kent side, who play in Southern League Division 1 East, scored twice in the first half and three times after the interval to set up a first qualifying round tie with Dorking.
"The scoreline looks harsh but they could have scored more," said YM manager John Suter. "They were a good side with four outstanding players so I have nothing to whinge about."
However, the veteran manager still managed to muster a smile after the game. "Anyway, I have no interest in winning Mickey Mouse cups," he joked.
YM travelled to Conference ground Gravesend & Northfleet, where Dartford play while they wait for their new ground to be built, and it was clear early on that the Kent side would be a test for Suter's men.
Eddie McClements nearly opened the scoring when he hit the post but Dartford only had to wait until the 14th minute before they found the back of the net.
Tostao Kwashi, who deservedly won the man of the match award, swung over a cross to Jim Carter who headed in at the back post to make it 1-0.
"The local photographer moved from behind their goal to behind our goal. That summed it up for me," explained Suter.
YM nearly responded through James Grant when the midfielder dribbled past three defenders and into the Dartford box. However, his shot did not mirror his jinking run and he fired a left-foot shot into the side-netting.
Joel O'Hara volleyed Nathan Sleat's free-kick against the post as YM fought for an equaliser but they were dealt a cruel blow when Dartford doubled their lead.
Barrie Westgate failed to clear a long ball which allowed Kwashi to run clear and slot past Plumley in the 38th minute.
"We have had some great chances to score but we have come in 2-0 down. But we were not playing as well as we could have," admitted Suter.
The tie was effectively killed a minute after the break when Carter headed over the stranded Plumley after YM failed to deal with Ted Ansell's free-kick.
The hosts had several good chances to extend their lead but a combination of some wasteful finishing and some good saves by Plumley kept the score down.
However, there was little the YM keeper could do to stop Kwashi swivelling and volleying home number four in the 71st minute.
Substitute Tommy Planck rounded off the scoring in injury time when he netted from close range.
"The last goal was a shame," lamented Suter. "But they were a good side and even if we had played to the best of our ability then we may still have lost. It was a disappointing afternoon."
YM face another long journey tomorrow when they travel to Abingdon Town for the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.
