The hosts made the most of the opening exchanges, quickly inflicting their familiar slick passing game on The Clarets. And they got their just reward on the quarter hour mark, striker Ben Brooker tapping home after some good work and a low cross from Dan Smith.

The game then descended into goal frenzy, as three strikes in the space of eleven first half minutes made the scores level at 2-2.

The visitors first equalised through Dijon Best, who rifled the ball home from just inside the area, before the forward then added his and Horley's second minutes later, capitalising on a mistake in the YM defence to side foot into the net.

But just like last week, the hosts came from behind to immediately equalise, when a great tackle from Smith in the middle of the park intercepted play, Charlie Abrehart found Ryan Taylor wide on the right, and his sublime cross was headed home by Brooker for his fourth of the season.

The YM defence then had to earn their stripes to ensure the hosts entered the break all square, as a barrage of Horley pressure rained down on the YM goal.

Defenders Marc Cobby and Joe Aquilina both threw their bodies on the line to block shots on target, before YM 'keeper Eliott Flack was beaten all ends up by Horley's Matt Scutter from twenty five yards, only for the striker's shot to come back off the crossbar.

The second half was a much less lively affair, with the decisive goal in the game coming just four minutes after the restart. A poor YM clearance was flicked onto Scutter, who this time made no mistake in curling home from the edge of the area, with the home defence all awaiting an offside decision that never came.

Winger Dan Vinten should have then brought YM back level, but he could only guide his curled effort wide of the far post when well placed, before Smith saw a powerful shot from the edge of the box well kept out by the visitors' stopper.

The game became stretched in the last twenty minutes, but YM failed to find that elusive third goal, as Horley closed out the win to secure all three points.

The Reserves' next league fixture is at home to Lingfield on Thursday 6th September.
