AN AUDIENCE WITH ALEX STEPNEY AT HORSHAM YMCA FC
Horsham YMCA FC were fortunate enough to welcome ex-England and Manchester United goalkeeper, Alex Stepney on Friday night as he conducted an extremely successful 'An Audience with...' evening, which attracted more than one hundred guests to the club.
Stepney made 433 appearances for Manchester United between 1966 and 1978, but began his career at Tooting & Mitcham United in 1961, alongside now YM chairman, Mick Browning.
‘The evening was so well attended and a complete success,’ said Mick. ‘Alex was so well received and it was a particular pleasure for me to spend time with Alex and the seven other Tooting and Mitcham colleagues from 1963. It was fantastic!’
The audience were treated to stories from Stepney's past about his time at Millwall, Chelsea and Man Utd, and reminiscent tales of players such as Nobby Stiles and George Best, before an insightful question and answer session opened the floor to all.
An auction and raffle of memorabilia then rounded off an excellent night’s entertainment, before guests were given the opportunity to pose for photos with Alex himself as they left.
