A MUCH changed Horsham YMCA will start the new season in the County League after manager Chris White's arrival.
Sweeping changes have been made to both the playing staff and behind the scenes in the wake of the departure of John Suter after 19 years as boss at Gorings Mead. So many of the players and coaches at the club have decided their futures lie elsewhere that just two first team regulars from 2007/08 reported for pre-season training last week. Alex Keaney and Martyn Flack were among the players White put through their paces. But White has moved to deal with the changes, many players will have followed him from East Preston, while a new coaching set up has been introduced. "It was always going to be tough," the new boss said. "We were in a bit of a suck it and see situation with who would come back for the new season. I was in a situation where there were no phone numbers for players at the club. Slowly but surely I got round to most of them and got letters sent out. "Most of them said they would come back for training, but I have only seen two or three of them so far, although they may well come back this week." |
